The entrance to the California Pavilion captured the theme "California: Creating the Future" through a high-tech neon sculpture.  Inside, four exhibits displayed California's most noteworthy fields of research and development.

The first exhibit illustrated how geo-thermal energy is harnessed and converted into electricity.

The second focused on space, science and computer technology.  A hilight of the second exhibit was a space telescope that was scheduled to be launched during Expo 86.  An equally impressive display was the 10,000 pound Apollo XIV capsule.

The third and fourth exhibits focused on film technology and automotive design.  The rest of the pavilion held exhibits that displayed the exciting and sometimes surprising applications of the four areas of research.  Hollywood was well represented in the communications field through film presentations and displays which showed how science and the film industry were becoming entwined.  Visitors were invited to learn how computers were used to create realistic special effects that would otherwise be too expensive or dangerous to produce.
