Entering the Cuba pavilion, it appeared that the visitor stumbled onto a quaint, Caribbean village dock. Sacks and crates, stamped to destinations such as Yugoslavia and the U.S.S.R., awaited shipment alongside the pilings. A towering ship's hull was parked on one side and colonial, pastel-coloured shops lined the dock on the other.
Each shop had wares to sell, but the main attraction was inside the Cigar store. Cuban women demonstrated the technique of hand-rolling tobacco leaves into cigars. This pavilion was a hit for those in need of a nicotine boost.
