European Community

Formed at the end of World War II out of the strong desire for European nations to work together for the common good, economic progress and a lasting peace, the European Community grew to a membership of 12 states by 1986.  The European Community Pavilion stressed the important role communication has played in the past to achieve it's dream of economic stability and peace.

Also featured in this pavilion were the Meteosat communications satellite and plans for linking the United Kingdom with the European continent by means of a tunnel.
