White canopied and crescent shaped, the Ontario pavilion was the second largest Provincial pavilion at Expo 86. Inside, a maze of Halls depicted Ontario's history, culminating in a virtual reality experience. Seemingly out of nowhere, the visitor found himself transported beneath Niagara Falls. The floors rumbled, water rushed downwards, winds blew and mists enveloped all that dared to pass. This wasn't a place for the weak of heart.
From primeval forests and canoe routs to the technology explosion of the 1980's, Ontario told the history of transportation through hands-on demonstrations. Communication inovations were exhibited in a hisotical context begining with Alexander Graham Bell's invention of the telephone (so Ontarian's believe) in Brantford, Ontario.
The amphitheatre offered
a magnificent view of the nightly firework and laser show.
