Romania

The Romanian Pavilion reflected the nation's historic past as a commerce centre between the trade routes of the Middle East and Northern  Europe.  Exhibits also discussed that ancient Viking trails were still used to access eight countries within Europe.

Modern feats featured in the pavilion included the 1984 opening of the 64 kilometre Danube-Black Sea Canal.  This waterway shortens the route to central Europe by 400 kilometres and eases the ecological impact of the Danube Delta.
