The world's largest gold coin was minted to commemorate Expo '86.  Worth over one million dollars at the time, the coin was housed in a special numismatic exhibit on the Plaza of Nations.

The display chronicled the significance of coinage throughout history.  Special attention was given to the fascination humanity has had with the power of gold and the place that coins and currency have held as a means of communication.

The gold coin was housed in a well-guarded inner chamber.
