The Sounds of Expo '86

For many Vancouverites, their first introduction to Expo '86 was Skytrain.  Anyone riding the new rapid transit system into downtown in 1986 would hear the distinctive chimes on the PA system -- "DING DING DING -- the next station is Main St. -- EXPO 86."  Such sounds became a part of every day life.

The sounds of Expo '86 echoed the "high tech" era of the 1980s.  The computer generated beeps from the IBM information kiosks, the monorail's hum, and the playful, out-of-this-world garble emanating from UFO-H2O water park were ever-present reminders that Expo '86 was a step ahead of the rest of the world.

This section is no where near complete.  If anyone has sounds of Expo, please send them to scruff69@hotmail.com but be advised that hotmail limits attachments to 1000K.

The below sound files were donated from a visitor to this site. Thanks. These echoes from the past almost seem ghostly after all these years.
