Theme Plazas -- early models

Air Plaza

The Air Plaza  was to have a replica of the Concorde landing on runway 86.  The design was eventually changed when it was known that a giantic crane was available for the site.

Land Plaza

The Land Plaza's original design was a four block streetscape that would traverse time through architecture and automobiles.  Although the design was considered beautiful the theme was thought to be short-sighted as it only fit the North American idea of land travel.  As international modes of travel arrived on site, the streetscape was scrapped for an open plaza cluttered with an  international traffic jam.

Marine Plaza & The Roundhouse

The Marine Plaza and Roundhouse designs remained stable throughout the planning and construction phase.

East Gate Plaza

Stacked circular fountains of varried sizes were to be placed by the east gate.
