MAGAZINE COVERS
The Official Guide to Expo 86 (above left) shows one of the many buskers that performed at the fair. The main gate and Expo Centre (above right) are pictured on the cover of Canadian Geographic's winter 1985 edition. TV
Guide's May issue featured articles on the Royal visit and instructed
when
to tune in to see live coverage of the opening ceremonies. There was
also
an article on television at Expo 86 and how TV fit into the fair's
overall
theme of transportation and communication. In
this rare "The World of Archie" comic book, Archie and his
friends
leave the confines Riverdale to visit Expo 86. In another issue around
the same time, the gang visited Victoria's famed Empress Hotel for high
tea. It has been said that throughout the latter half of the 20th
century, Vancouver and Victoria had the largest Archie comic book
readerships
(per capita) than any other city in North America.
